Baltimore Bridge Collapse Shakes Up Coffee Supply Chain

The Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore has severely disrupted the supply chain for Compass Coffee and other businesses relying on the port. Compass Coffee, which imports its coffee beans primarily through the Port of Baltimore, has been forced to reroute its imports to the Port of New York and New Jersey. This shift has not only increased transportation costs significantly but also extended delivery times. Compass is exploring alternative routes and strategies to manage the increased costs and delays. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is working to clear the bridge wreckage by the end of May, aiming to reopen the port and alleviate some of the logistical challenges faced by businesses.
