Breckenridge coffee shops, including The Crown, Cool River, Semplice Cafe, and Breckenridge Coffee Roasters, are collaborating on a new sustainable initiative called Good To Go Cups, launching on Earth Day, April 22. This cup exchange program is part of the town's SustainableBreck Plan, which aims to reduce landfill waste by 40% by 2035. Customers can use an app to rent a washable, reusable cup and exchange it at any participating shop. The program uses a membership model offering 50 uses per membership. This initiative is a response to a 2017 waste audit, which identified coffee cups as a major contaminant in the town's recycling bins. On Earth Day, there's a promotional 50% discount on memberships to encourage participation.
