Tata Starbucks has reported a significant slowdown in sales growth, with a mere 7% increase in the third quarter compared to 42% in the same period last year. The slowdown reflects a broader trend of reduced consumer spending and challenges in the fast-casual dining sector, as seen with Costa Coffee's franchisee Devyani International. Despite this, Tata Starbucks opened 22 new stores in the quarter, totaling 392 across 55 cities, and has an aggressive plan to reach 1,000 stores in India by 2028. The expansion plan includes a focus on drive-thrus, airport locations, and 24-hour stores. Tata Consumer Products, the other half of the joint venture, saw a 9% increase in revenue and a 17% rise in coffee sales, indicating a mixed but hopeful picture for the company's growth trajectory.
