Brewing Community - Dead River Coffee's Artisanal Journey

Dead River Coffee has been a staple in Marquette, Michigan, since 2002, offering a range of unique coffee roasts and playing a pivotal role in the community. Founded by Theo McCracken, it started as a roastery providing taste experiences to customers and has evolved into a full café under new ownership since 2021. Owner Sloan Dorr continues to foster a space for artists, poets, and coffee lovers. David Sargent, who joined as the new roaster and coffee manager in December 2023, is passionate about the art and science behind coffee roasting. He meticulously logs flavor details for consistency and engages with customers to explore their preferences. The shop sources beans from the global "coffee belt" and Sargent emphasizes the need to understand the subtleties of each region to create the perfect roast. Dead River Coffee remains a beloved gathering spot where relationships and collaborations are born over the shared love of coffee.
