Nespresso is investing $10 million to support coffee farmers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through its Reviving Origins program. The initiative aims to restore and revitalize coffee production in regions affected by adversities such as economic hardship, civil conflict, or natural disasters. The investment will be utilized for coffee purchases, price premiums, and community projects, alongside providing technical assistance and access to global markets for local farmers. This move is expected to enhance the long-term sustainability and resilience of farming communities, protect rare coffee varieties, and preserve the heritage of coffee farming. Nespresso's commitment has already shown positive results in the Lake Kivu region, with the country's coffee gaining increased recognition in the specialty coffee market. Partnerships with multiple stakeholders are central to this initiative, with a focus on implementing regenerative practices and a biodiversity tracking tool based on the DRC's unique birdlife.
