Swiss dairy giant Emmi Group has announced its acquisition of Hochstrasser, a well-established domestic coffee roaster based in Lucerne, Switzerland. The financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, and it is still pending approval from competition authorities. Hochstrasser, which has been a roasting partner for Emmi Group for the past 20 years, will retain its operational independence and keep its current management structure intact. The acquisition is set to enhance Emmi's coffee expertise, particularly for its Emmi Caffè Latte brand, by combining premium coffee roasting with high-quality Swiss milk. Hochstrasser, founded in 1852, employs around 50 people and reported net sales of approximately SFr17 million ($18.9 million) in 2023. Emmi Group, which operates globally with around 9,000 employees, posted net sales of SFr4.242 billion ($4.72 billion) in its 2023 financial year. This acquisition follows Emmi's recent collaboration with US-based Equator Coffee to launch a line of ready-to-drink cold-brew coffees.
