Ethiopia's coffee exports have shown significant growth, with 210,000 tonnes shipped to the global market in the last ten months. This increase, reported by the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA), marks a notable rise compared to the same period last year. Ethiopia now exports its coffee to over 50 countries, with ongoing efforts to expand its international reach. The Director General of ECTA, Adugna Debela, highlighted promotional initiatives such as exhibitions and events aimed at boosting the presence of Ethiopian coffee in new markets. China, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates are among the countries that have recently increased their imports of Ethiopian coffee. Additionally, ECTA has implemented a modern system to curb illegal transactions and enhance the efficiency of foreign trade in the coffee sector. These strategic measures are expected to further position Ethiopia as a key player in the global coffee market, benefiting both the economy and local farmers.
