Florida College Brews Success with Student-Run Coffee Shop

Students at Florida Southern College are gaining real entrepreneurial experience through a unique program called Morning Grind, a student-run coffee shop located on campus. The initiative, led by Justin Heacock, the director of the Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at FSC, operates as a practical business lab where students handle all aspects of the business from management to marketing. They are tasked with decision-making processes, from introducing new products to implementing marketing strategies without the burden of capital risk. The coffee sold is locally sourced from Concord Coffee, providing students with the opportunity to create and market their own coffee blends. This hands-on project not only enhances their educational experience but also prepares them for real-life business challenges, making it an integral part of their academic journey at FSC.
