Jersey to San Juan - A Marketer's Cultural Homecoming

Jarrell Chalmers, a marketing consultant, shares his experience of moving from Jersey City to San Juan, Puerto Rico, with his partner, Jose Diaz. Both of Puerto Rican origin, they sought to connect with their cultural roots and enjoy a more affordable cost of living. Despite the challenge of pricier groceries due to import laws, they've adapted well, working remotely and integrating into the local community. They've started a coffee brand, Planeta De Cafe, to support local farms and donate to a nonprofit aiding Puerto Rican students. The couple also offers free résumé help to locals and shares their experiences, including the drawbacks of island life, on social media. Their story highlights the balance of embracing a new lifestyle while contributing positively to their adopted community.
