Muggin Coffeehouse has announced the closing of its Whitehaven location on February 17, citing "unfortunate circumstances." The local independent coffee shop, which opened in 2020, was the only one of its kind in the Whitehaven area. Owners Ken and Mary Olds expressed their gratitude for being able to serve the community and their sadness over the closure. They faced competition from a large chain drive-thru coffee company, which ultimately affected their business. Despite the closure in Whitehaven, the Oldses continue to operate their second location in Uptown Memphis, which opened last September. The coffeehouse is known for its specialty coffees with Memphis-inspired names. The owners and team have a heartfelt connection to Whitehaven and encourage patrons to visit their Uptown location.
