Seattle's Vietnamese Coffee Scene - A New Wave of Flavor

Seattle is witnessing a fresh wave of Vietnamese coffee culture, marked by a growing number of innovative cafés that blend traditional Vietnamese coffee methods with unique local twists. These cafés, like Voi Cà Phê and Hello Em, are not only introducing Seattleites to traditional drinks like cà phê sữa đá and cà phê trứng but are also offering inventive concoctions such as the phở spice latte. This new generation of coffee shops, led by first- and second-generation Vietnamese American entrepreneurs, is building on the legacy of earlier Vietnamese coffee houses while making the scene more inclusive and educational. They are also keen on showcasing Vietnam's robust coffee production capabilities, often overshadowed in the global market, by using home-grown robusta and arabica beans. These efforts are enriching Seattle’s coffee landscape, famously known as the birthplace of Starbucks, with a vibrant and diverse coffee culture that connects back to Vietnam.
