Sit Less, Sip More - Coffee May Offset Sedentary Death Risks

Researchers have found that prolonged sitting increases the risk of death from all causes and cardiovascular diseases. However, high coffee consumption appears to mitigate these risks. The study analyzed data from over 10,000 U.S. adults, revealing that individuals who drink coffee and sit less have a lower risk of mortality. This relationship was particularly significant among non-coffee drinkers who sat for more than six hours a day. The findings suggest that while sedentary behavior is linked to higher mortality rates, coffee consumption could offer protective benefits against the health risks associated with inactivity.
