Taiwan Shines at First Cup of Excellence for Specialty Coffee

Taiwan recently hosted its inaugural Cup of Excellence (COE) competition, showcasing its specialty coffee to the world. This event marked Taiwan as the third Asian country and the 17th globally to participate in this prestigious competition. The competition highlighted the quality of Taiwanese coffee, with four entries scoring over 90 points. It celebrated a diverse range of winners, including female producers and those practicing organic farming. The rigorous selection process involved over 33 jurors from various countries who tasted more than 3,000 cups of coffee. The top 20 coffees were recognized for their exceptional quality, with an auction scheduled for October 3. Taiwan's unique geography contributes to its coffee's distinct flavors, and the event aimed to boost local production despite challenges. Experts believe Taiwan is on a promising path to becoming a key player in the global specialty coffee market, enhancing its economic value and reputation.
